We are seeking a keen, motivated and committed individual to become the Team Leader of the Energy Operations Team and to be responsible for business development of energy schemes and services, within Major Projects and Corporate Property Services.
The Energy Services section is an award winning team, responsible for overseeing energy and sustainability issues in Gateshead, as the Council aims toward becoming Zero Carbon by 2030. The section also manages the Council's portfolio of energy generation schemes, which includes Gateshead District Energy Scheme, heat networks, solar PV and battery storage systems. You will join the team at an exciting time as the Town Centre District Energy Scheme expands to include minewater heating and solar farms, and as new customers / developments are connected to our heat networks. In addition, the team is embarking on new projects involving more district heat networks, home insulation and renewable energy schemes – most of which are funded by public grants. You will report direct to the Energy Services Manager, and line manage a team of 4 officers, being responsible for managing all assets and services provided by the team, developing business cases for energy schemes (including capital funding bids), ensuring schemes comply with all legislative requirements, establishing and managing scheme performance, customer relations management, engaging with stakeholders, conducting commercial negotiations with customers, liaising with other corporate programmes, and any other duties appropriate for the grade.
You must have knowledge of government policy and legislation on energy schemes, local energy policies and issues in Gateshead, low carbon and renewable technologies. You will have degree or equivalent in an energy, environmental or sustainability discipline. You will need experience of business case development, energy management in a large organisation, working within energy / carbon legislation, and contractual/commercial discussions and negotiations.
