The team…
The Enablement & Independence Service supports people with disabilities (learning disabilities, those with autism, physical disabilities, or mental health conditions) to be influential in their local communities through citizenship, employment, enterprise, and volunteering opportunities. With a strong focus on the abilities of the individual and not their disabilities, we recognise the importance of supporting individuals to obtain their maximum potential and achieve the same life outcomes as those of people without disabilities.
The Enablement & Independence Services are also key to supporting older people to remain in their own homes through facilitating seamless hospital discharges, preventing unnecessary admissions to hospital and residential care, by working with individuals to regain or maintain their independence with enablement and reablement approaches.
About the roles….
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Shared Lives Manager to lead and expand our Care Quality Commission (CQC) “Good” rated Shared Lives Service. As the Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations within the service, continually inspiring the team and ensuring that Shared Lives Carers provide quality support to the individuals who access the service. Key duties will include maintaining compliance with CQC requirements and regulations and adherence to the Adult Social Care Provider services quality assurance framework, organisational policies, and procedures. A key aim is to proactively develop the service and its profile locally and regionally and secure the recruitment and development of Shared Lives carers. It is important to ensure the effective and efficient use of financial and other resources to achieve service objectives and those of the Thrive agenda.
It is essential that you possess a Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent, knowledge of adult social care legislation and Care Quality Commission requirements, the ethos of Shared Lives, health and safety legislation and non-verbal communication systems.
People really are our greatest asset at Gateshead Council and we value every employee. We encourage our people to think differently, do the right thing and be innovative.
