The Low Incidence Needs Team (LINT) is part of the SEN Inclusion Team and includes the areas of hearing, vision, multi-sensory impairment and physical and/or medical needs, all of which provide support to pre-school children and young people in education aged (0-25) in Gateshead across mainstream and special school settings.
About the role….
An opportunity has arisen within the Low Incidence Needs Team (LINT), Gateshead Council, for a Specialist Sensory Teaching Assistant – Vision Impairment.
We are looking for applicants who meet the Higher-Level Teaching Assistants Standards or hold an equivalent qualification. The successful applicant will be required to have or be willing to work towards the Grade 1 Braille qualification and achieve Grade 2 within 3 years.
Applicants must have knowledge of the impact of vision loss upon learning and development, a good understanding of child development and learning processes and barriers to learning. They should have worked with national /early years curriculum, programmes and strategies.
Experience of working with vision impaired children and young people is preferable, along with use of specialist resources and technologies relevant to the post.
Applicants are expected to work flexibly where required across Gateshead.
You will join a supportive team of experienced professionals dedicated to providing high quality support and advice to Gateshead schools and settings on behalf of sensory impaired children and their families.
You must hold a current driving license and have access to a car or means to mobility support.

This service supports families when the children are subject to Child in Need or Child Protetion Plan, and children who are cared for outside of their birth parents’ care. We also complete work with families who are subject to intervention within the Public Law Outline and Care Proceedings.

About the role…
Gateshead Council’s ambitious Adult Social Care services are looking to recruit 5 Assessing Officers to join our Achieving Change Together Plus Team. This fast-paced team supports with timely and robust strengths-based assessments and reviews with adults across Adult Social Care.
These posts are funded and are fixed term for a period of 3 years.
You will be responsible for providing high quality strengths-based assessment and support which maximisers an adult’s involvement, choice and independence, working in line with Gateshead’s Thrive agenda. You will undertake a range of assessments with adults and/or their caregivers including initial assessments and further assessments, in order to identify levels of need in relation to Care Act 2014 eligibility criteria.
It is essential that you have experience of working with adults (and their caregivers) who have multiple and complex needs, physical disabilities and/or mental health needs. You must have knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, together with the ability to interpret this legislation and apply it to practice while adhering to the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities. You will also have excellent communication and ICT skills.

The Built and Natural Environment Team is a multi-disciplinary team packed with professional officers providing advice on Transport, Urban Design, Ecology, Trees, Drainage, Heritage and Contaminated Land
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the team. You will be involved in a range of works streams from, providing specialist advice on the transport elements of minor planning applications. This will include pre-application advice, appraisal of planning applications and related travel plans, applications to discharge relevant planning conditions and monitoring the implementation of transport measures agreed as part of planning approvals.
The job requires a minimum of 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above (or equivalent).Knowledge of the planning process generally, and the transport development control process in particular, would be an advantage.You will have a strong customer focus and commitment to continuous improvement and evidence of continuing professional development. You will be competent in using relevant IT systems such as Microsoft Office and GIS products and have a full driving licence.The post is offered on a full time basis but flexible working arrangements can be discussed. Hybrid working is offered but site visits in the borough will be required and a presence in the office is expected a minimum of two days per week.

The successful individual will lead a team within the Management Information Service, to provide training, advice, technical and software support to customers on their school management information systems (SIMS, Arbor and Bromcom).
They will develop and deliver a range of training sessions on school MIS systems, tailored to the needs of teachers, administrative staff, and senior leadership teams. They will develop engaging training materials such as manuals, guides, and e-learning resources to enhance the learning experience.
The role will provide ongoing support to service users, troubleshooting issues, offering guidance to ensure efficient use of the SIMS system in compliance with national, local and school specific procedures and data requirements. They will stay abreast of and communicate to service users the latest developments in supported MIS systems and related technologies, supporting the integration of new features into school systems and processes.
The role will also coordinate resources to plan and deliver both service and school led projects within agreed schedules, supporting team members to optimise individual and team performance.

We are currently recruiting for Residential Child Care Officer (RCCO) across our Children’s Homes:
Residential Child Care Officer, 37 hours, Grade G/H
As this is a 24 hour service, 7 days per week, in addition to a very competitive salary of £31,067 - £37,938 you will also be entitled to an additional payment of Children’s Residential Allowance of approx. £1,500 per annum for working evenings and early mornings and you will receive two increments for weekend working of which you will work a minimum of 10% of your hours. You will also receive sleep in payments subject to the rota.
You should ideally have experience of working with children and young people. We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds including social care, health and education. What matters most is your ability to connect and care for children and young people, understanding their lived experiences and be interested in them and supporting them to be the very best they can be.
